During Indira Gandhi’s Emergency in 1975-1977, Pranab Mukherjee hailed her as “India is Indira and Indira is India” and today he is the frontrunner for the country’s presidentship. Team Anna has accused him of corruption also during his tenure as finance minister and Justice J.C. Shah has adversely commented on the illegal and unconstitutional role of Pranab Mukherjee during the Emergency in his report which was a commission of inquiry appointed by Government of India to inquire into all the excesses committed in the during that time.
