The Fujairah Court of Appeal on Tuesday upheld a lower court’s verdict treating a 28-year-old man convicted of using hashish in a de-addiction treatment sanatorium.According to the court records, the police arrested the defendant, A.S., after he was found in an abnormal state in his car in a neighbouring emirate in February. He was sent for medical examination and his urine sample tested positive for hashish.
In the Court of First Instance, A.S. admitted that he was a drug addict and begged the court to help him quit addiction to narcotics. Accordingly, the court ordered the convict be placed in a sanatorium to treat him for addiction.
