Man dies of suspected overdose in yacht

Amira Agarib / 30 August 2012

The police are investigating the death of a UAE national whose body was found in a yacht anchored off Dubai Marina recently.

The preliminary investigation and evidence found on the scene show that the man in his twenties might have died due to drug overdose.

Around 12.30pm on Sunday, the police got information that a man was found dead in a yacht off Dubai Marina. The police team that reached the yacht saw M.A.’s body with a white substance near it.

A 43-year-old national woman told the police that her son had told her on Sunday that his friend was supposed to visit him but he was not responding to his phone calls.

Sometime later, her son called another of his friends and asked him to go and check in the yacht.

When that person went to the yacht, he saw the man lying unconscious but the yacht’s guard did not allow him to enter it with its owner’s permission.

Then, she and her son went to the yacht and saw the body.

The mother told the police that she decided to go to the scene to find out what happened since she knew that the deceased used to abuse drugs and he was the one who encouraged her son also to use drugs.

The victim was released from jail only three days before his death.

He came to her house and her son and he went out together. He told her son that he had no place to go because he had some disputes with his family and was going to the yacht.
