Ibsons notch second straight win (KT Report) / 6 August 2012 Ibsons Cricket Club won their second game in two days in the 2nd Interface Ramadan Cup 2012 tournament as Pervaiz Nasir was their hero with a swashbuckling unbeaten knock of 66 runs in 28 balls beating fancied Yogi Group in the Dubai Cricket Council run tournament which is sponsored by Interface Transworld at the ICC Global Cricket Academy. Ibsons won the toss and batted first with openers Tahir Mughal and Faizan Asif putting on 39 runs for the first wicket at which stage Tahir who has played for Lahore Badshah’s and Sialkot Stallions was caught and bowled by Abdul Samad. Faizan Asif was bowled by Ambey Parwatkar while Baber Malik was run out by Swapnil. Yogi’s overseas player Sujith Nayak who is with the Mumbai Indians franchisee caught Shafique Ahmed off his own bowling to have Ibsons four down for 64 runs. Pervaiz Nasir who had come at the fall of Baber Malik’s wicket then went on a rampage as he played a whirlwind knock slamming seven sixes and two fours to race to an unbeaten knock of 66 runs while wickets tumbled at regular intervals. It was his effort which knocked the wind out of Yogi’s sail and saw Ibsons reach a challenging 170 runs in their twenty overs. Yogi group’s reply was disastrous as they lost both their openers, Salman Faris and Shaiman Butt with only nine runs on the board as Kamran Shahzad bowled well to pick up both the openers. Swapnil played determined cricket playing with singles and rotating the strike to make 27 runs in which he hit just one six and a four before UAE spinner Fayyaz Ahmed had him caught and bowled. No sooner he was out Yogi group lost wickets in a heap as Fayyaz continued to torment the Yogi batting line-up and he was well supported by Zohaib Akhter and Kamran shehzad to send Yogi reeling to nine down for 97 runs. Avadoot was the only one to collar the bowling to make a run a ball 22 runs before he was bowled by Irfan Sajjad. A face saving last wicket partnership of 38 runs between Ambey Parwatkar 8, and number eleven Sandeep Singh who smashed 31 runs in 20 balls with two sixes and two fours saw Yogi finish with 135 runs to hand victory to Ibsons by 35 runs. Parvez Nasir was deservedly the man of the match for his superb match winning knock of 66 runs. |
