Riyaz and Nigel star for IKAT Brothers

(KT Report) / 30 July 2012

Riyaz’s five-wicket haul and Nigel’s unbeaten half-century helped IKAT Brothers win their second successive match in the 11th Dulsco Ramadan Twenty20 Cricket.

In a Group A match played on Saturday night, IKAT Brothers trounced Jashanmal CC by nine wickets to assure themselves of a place in the knock-out stage.

The tournament is being organised by Dulsco SC under the auspices of the Dubai Cricket Council and played at the Zabeel Park Cricket Ground, Dubai.

Riyaz bagged five wickets for 31 runs to help IKAT Brothers bowl out their rivals Jashanmal CC for 136 in 18 overs.

They later worked off the required runs in 14.3 overs with Nigel scoring an unbeaten 85 from 46 balls. Nigel belted eight sixes and three fours as he carried his bat through after he and Aneesh K put on 84 runs for the opening partnership.

Aneesh hit a 28-ball 39 which included three massive sixes. Jayaraj was unbeaten on five when IKAT Bros carved an easy nine-wicket victory over Jashanmal who were playing their first match in the tournament.

Nigel of IKAT Bros was named the man of the match for his brilliant display with the bat. Vineeth and Shailesh bagged two wickets each for the winners whilst conceding 24 and 26 runs respectively.

Earlier, Jashanmal CC, elected to bat first after winning the toss but could not maneuver the bowling of IKAT Brothers.

Few batsmen did get into double-digit scores but failed to turn them into big numbers. Farhan was the top scorer for Jashanmal with 26 followed by Saif who hit an 18-ball 25. Mohsin 14, Darshan and opener Wazim 13 each and Kamran and Ashish with nine each were the other contributors for the losers.

Shakoor of Jashanmal picked up the wicket of Aneesh for 20 runs as IKAT Bros walked off with an easy victory.

AGE Steel meet Dolphin AEN CC on Monday while hosts Dulsco play Brookfield Multiples on Tuesday. Both matches commence at 8 pm.
